Citrus County votes 5-0 to freeze all data centers — residents pack commission chambers

A unanimous vote. Commission chambers standing room only. Residents lined up for public comment against an 800-acre Deltona Corporation proposal near U.S. 41 in Holder. The moratorium gives county staff 12 months to study groundwater, grid, and quality-of-life impacts before any project moves forward.

Florida Commerce Secretary Alex Kelly had already warned that data center projects present “significant risks to Central Florida’s energy capacity, water resources, and transportation infrastructure.”
