More than 12 hours. Over 80 public speakers. Commissioners voted 5–1 to deny the hyperscale AI data center near Arden and Saddle View Elementary — Commissioner Maria G. Marino was the only vote against denial. Mayor Sara Baxter recused after declaring her opposition, which Florida law bars in quasi-judicial zoning matters.
The denial was without prejudice, meaning the developer can revise and refile. And the property separately retains earlier approvals for more than 2 million square feet of warehouse and data center development that this vote did not touch. Project attorney Ernie Cox told WPTV that development “goes forward” and the vote “doesn’t have any effect on that.”
